ChalkPad — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
ChalkPad ("the app") is a whiteboard and chalkboard app for Android. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: your work is stored on your device; you control exports, sharing and Android backups.
Information the app handles
- Boards you create: titles, pages, ink, shapes, text and the page backgrounds you choose.
- Pictures you insert: picked with Android's system photo picker. The app keeps a resized copy in its own private storage, so your board keeps working if the original picture is deleted.
- PDF files you annotate: picked with the system file picker, or opened with / shared to ChalkPad from another app. Each page is turned into a picture stored inside the board; the original file is not changed.
- Settings: theme, default paper, pen and tool choices, plus a few counters that decide when to ask for a rating (when you first opened the app, on how many days you used it, how many pages or boards you exported, when a rating was last requested and when something last went wrong).
What we do NOT do
- We do not receive, sell or use your personal data for advertising or analytics. User-selected exports, sharing and Android backup are described below.
- The app has no account system, no analytics, no advertising SDKs and no crash-reporting SDKs.
- The app has no internet permission and does not upload your content to a developer server. Exports and links use Android or the external app you choose.
- The app does not request broad access to your photo library or files, or access to contacts, location, camera or microphone. Pictures and PDF files are only read when you pick or share them, through Android's own picker and share sheet.
Where your data lives
- Boards, their pictures and PDF pages are stored in the app's private storage on your device.
- Your settings may be included in your Android device backup (handled by Google under your Google account, not by us). Boards are not part of the cloud backup; they move to a new device only when you transfer your data from your old device directly.
- When you export a page as a picture or a board as a PDF, the app creates the file and hands it to the destination you choose (your gallery, another app, or a storage location). What happens to it after that is controlled by you and that destination.
- Now and then (at most once every 60 days) the app may ask Google Play to show its rating card. If you rate the app there, or through Rate ChalkPad in Settings, your rating is handled by the Google Play Store app under Google's privacy policy; ChalkPad's code does not receive your rating or review text. Share ChalkPad hands a short text with a link to the app's Google Play page to the app you pick.
Google Play reviews and deletion
If you choose to submit a star rating or review, Google Play processes it under Google's terms and privacy policy. A submitted review may be public, or shared privately with Ninko as feedback during a closed test. Public Play reviews are associated with your Google Account and may show your public profile information. The app's code does not receive your rating, review text or submission status. Google states that this review data is encrypted.
Google provides review-deletion controls in the Play Store or your Google Account. For a posted review, open this app's detail page in the Play Store, find your review, and choose More > Delete. Instructions: Google Play review deletion instructions. Clearing this app's storage or uninstalling it does not delete your Play review.
Deleting your data
Delete a board inside the app to remove it with its pictures. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes everything the app stored.
Children
The app is intended for teachers, tutors and users aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and contains no ads. Ratings, support contact, exported files and app links use Android or the external service you choose.
Retention and security
App data remains in Android's private app storage until you delete it or clear the app's storage. Android controls device security and system backups. Exported files, copies you share and system backups may remain after uninstalling; manage or delete them in the destination app or device backup settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
